Commitment
GIRA is not merely an energy infrastructure project; it is conceived as a catalyst for transformation, aimed at generating long-term value for the region while promoting environmental, social, and economic sustainability. Our commitment to the local area and to sustainable growth is at the core of everything we do.

Quality employment and new industries
We aim to help transform the region into a hub for attracting innovative, future-oriented industries.

Industrial attraction
The project will support the establishment of industries in the area, particularly those with significant electricity requirements. GIRA will provide green energy under highly competitive conditions for energy-intensive sectors such as semiconductor manufacturing, green hydrogen production, and Industry 4.0 advanced manufacturing.

Job creation
During the construction phase, the project will generate thousands of jobs. Once operational, GIRA will directly employ around 50 highly qualified professionals

Strengthening the local business ecosystem
The project will collaborate partnerships with local companies for the provision of supplies, transportation, and auxiliary services.
Private investment generating direct tax revenues for the region
GIRA is a privately funded project backed by a financially solid company with a long and proven track record.

Significant direct investment
The project is expected to involve an initial investment of between €1.0 and €1.2 billion, dedicated to the construction, commissioning and operation of the facility.

The project will generate substantial direct tax revenues
for the municipalities of Ribera d’Ebre and Terra Alta, providing resources that will be reinvested in improvements and services for the benefit of the wider community.
In partnership with the region

GIRA is committed to promoting meaningful and transparent stakeholder engagement with the people, organizations, and institutions of Terra Alta and Ribera d’Ebre
This engagement is founded on broad consensus and sustained dialogue with local communities, ensuring the Integration of local perspectives, needs, and concerns into the project’s design, construction programme, and mitigation measures. It also serves to foster mutual understanding and building agreements between the community and the project developer.
Key to the energy transition
We are a key enabler of a renewable energy future, helping to make the transition both practical and reliable.

Strategic energy storage
We store surplus wind and solar energy and return it to the grid when it is most needed, preventing renewable energy from being wasted and helping to maximize the use of clean energy.

Decarbonization
We contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in critical sectors such as transport, construction, and industry by enabling greater use of renewable energy and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

Grid resilience
We strengthen the stability of the power system, reducing vulnerabilities and helping to moderate electricity price fluctuations in the market.

A project of European common interest
GIRA is aligned with the European union’s climate and energy objectives, contributing to the delivery of affordable, secure and sustainable energy for all citizens. The project was recognised as a Project of Common Interest (PCI) in both 2017 and 2019, reflecting its strategic importance in supporting Europe’s energy transition and strengthening the integration of renewable energy sources.
